Setting Up Impersonated Access in SmartCloud Connect and Configuring Mailbox Access for Organizations and Users

Microsoft Exchange Impersonation is used in scenarios in which a single account must access many user accounts, for example to view or adjust their settings or perform various actions on these accounts’ behalf.

Note

Before setting up Impersonated access in SmartCloud Connect for Salesforce, the Microsoft Exchange Administrator must configure the impersonation and provide SmartCloud Connect for Salesforce Administrator with both the Microsoft Exchange service account details and a list of Users whose accounts are impersonated.

To set up Impersonated access in SmartCloud Connect

1. Follow the steps provided in the article “How to Log in to SmartCloud Connect Administration Panel” to log in to SmartCloud Connect Administration Panel.

2. Perform the steps 1 – 9 from this article to set up Impersonated access via Administration panel.

Configuring Mailbox Access for Organizations

To configure or update an Organization’s access to the mailbox:

1. Go to the Organizations tab and select the needed Organization, open the E-mail Configuration subtab.

2. Depending on which mailbox access type has been selected for this organization, you will need to set up one of the following email configurations:

If Exchange Direct access is selected:

  1. From the Mailbox Access Type drop-down list, select the Microsoft Exchange Direct Logon mailbox access type.

  2. Click Save.

If Exchange Impersonated Access is selected:

  1. From the Mailbox Access Type drop-down list, select the Microsoft Exchange Impersonation mailbox access type.

    1. In the Account Logon field, enter the impersonating login.

    2. In the Password field, enter the password.

    3. In the Exchange Web Services (EWS) URL field, enter the EWS URL.

    4. Click Check Users Exchange Impersonated Access to make sure it was successful.

    5. Click Save.

Configuring Mailbox Access for Users

To configure or update a User’s access to the mailbox, do the following:

1. Go to the Users tab and select the needed user, open the E-mail Configuration subtab.

2. Depending on which mailbox access type has been selected for this User in Organization, you will need to set up one of the following E-Mail configurations:

If Exchange Direct Access is selected:

1. From the Mailbox Access Type drop-down list, select the mailbox access type. The available types are Password/OAuth.

2. In the E-Mail field, enter the user’s E-Mail.

3. In the Exchange Web Services (EWS) URL field, enter the EWS URL.

4. In the User Name field, enter the username.

5. In the Password field, enter the user password.

6. You can check all changes by clicking Invalidate Password/OAuth Token.

7 . Click Save.

If Exchange Impersonated Access is selected:

1. From the Mailbox Access Type drop-down list, select the mailbox access type.

2. In the Account Logon field, enter the impersonating login.

3. In the Password field, enter the password.

4. In the Exchange Web Services (EWS) URL field, enter the EWS URL.

5. Click Check Users Exchange Impersonated Access to make sure it was successful.

6. You can check all changes by clicking Invalidate Password/OAuth Token.

7. Click Save.
