Using SmartCloud Connect on a Mobile Device
SmartCloud Connect allows you to collaborate on the go within your Salesforce org and share your contacts, emails, calendar events, and tasks with Salesforce right from your smartphone. In addition, you can modify shared contacts, tasks, or calendar appointments on your smartphone – these changes will be automatically shared in Salesforce through synchronization. If a task or calendar appointment from Salesforce includes a reminder, you will get a notification on your mobile phone when this activity approaches.
To share an email, contact, calendar event, or task on a mobile device, you can use the same basic method as in MS Outlook desktop/web or Office 365, that is:
- Move the email (or contact, calendar item, task, etc.) to the custom “Salesforce”folder in your mail client
- Assign you email (or contact, calendar item, task, etc.) the “Salesforce” category
Since mobile email clients’ functionality varies considerably, some of the features that SmartCloud Connect provides may not be available in your mail application. For example, if your email client does not support categories, you will not be able to share your records using the category assignment.
Also please note that SmartCloud Connect Add-In (Sidebar) is not supported by native mobile email applications: it is only available in MS Office mobile/web, Office 365, and the Outlook app for iOS or Android, however you still can work with your Salesforce records using SmartCloud Connect synchronization using the folder/category method described above.
Finally, please note that when you are running SmartCloud Connect in MS Outlook on a mobile device, due to the peculiarities of the mobile implementation of MS Outlook the Add-In follows slightly different use patterns than on non-mobile devices. In particular, since no Compose mode is available in mobile Outlook implementations, email saving behavior and the flow of the Send meeting time slots and Share calendar availability features are more basic; in the latter case pre-configured unchangeable Salesforce templates must be used in Scheduling Assistant.
